Hanging ship

This is from Anna Kirke (Anna Church) on Nørrebro. Almost every Danish church has some kind of a ship hanging from the roof. It is meant to illustrate the protection that seamen need - or have enjoyed already - when travelling the seven seas.

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Lousiana is a must-do! It is a bit outside the city, but it is such a cool place and it is just a nice trip up north on by the coast line. This is shot from the garde with a view over Oresund - the water between Denmark and Sweden. Even for people without any particular interest in art the museum is a great place to go. The surroundings are fantastic, and so is the strawberry cake they sell in the café. Maybe that is what the to people at the photos are enjoying.

Graduating students

These days you see heaps of trucks loaded with happy young people. They are riding around the city from house to house (a kind of tour de chambre), and are celebrating their exams. They are all graduating from highschool, and the world is open and full of options.

Typical back yard

This is a typical back yard in Copenhagen. A place for relaxing, BBQ's, playing with kids... (or parking you bicycle).

Roof top terrrace

This is Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen University Hospital). It is the leading hospital in Denmark. I think the old building is a quite sharp contrast to the new (or at leaster newer) one behind. A few years ago they built the helipad on the roof - it is not a roof top terrace, even though it could look like one. Until then helicopters with patients were landing in the nearby park called Fælledparken.

Skt. Hans

Last night was Skt. Hans Aften (Midsummers Eve) in Denmark. We celebrate midsummer with a big fire while we sing about how lovely our country is and maybe have a few beers. The reason we celebrate midsummer to days after midsummer (it is actually on June 21), is apparently that the date was decided about a thousand years ago. Back then they did not have the technology to actually measure exactly when the longest day was. But they were quite close, though.

What flower?

To be honest I have no clue what sort of flower this is. But right now it is blooming in Kongens Have (Kings Garden) and it is beautiful. Maybe one of my distinguished readers can help me with the name?

Various signs

Sometimes you see signs that you can't really decipher. Not because the sign is necessarily confusing, but because the graffitti painters have been there...

Leaky building

I passed this building the yesterday. I think it looks like it has a lot of small holes, but is of course windows, with the entrance in the middle.

Ride together

Not much to say. They are just riding throught the city. It's quick, it's easy, it's nice!

Coffee by the lake

The Lakes in Copenhagen is one of my favourite motives. They are just right there in the middle of city and are really a nice place to go for a walk or run... or relaxing at one the many cafés.

Men at work or robbery?

I posted a photo of the statues at Marmorkirken (Marble Church) a few days ago. And then yesterday this suddenly happened! Actually, I don't think it is robbery, but rather preparations for refurbishment.

Veggie shop

One of the small multi ethnic shops you can find in Copenhagen - in particular at Nørrebro. Unfortunately the picture doesn't give you lovely smell of spicy food in the street, coming from all the small restaurants and café's.

Grey

The University of Copenhagen, Njalsgade Campus. A rather grey and dull building.

Invisible traffic

A view of the light night traffic on Helsingørmotorvejn (Elsinore Highway), which is one of the main in and outbound links to Copenhagen. The cars are there, but only the head or back lights are visible.

Pouring rain

Yesterday was very wet! And so is today. We had 75 mm of rain witin the last 24 hours. Normal for June is 55 mm.

The Apostles

The statues on the roof of Marmorkirken (Marble Church). I am not sure - as I haven't been able to find any information about them - but they could very well be the apostles.
