Planespotting - Flyvergrillen revisited

We have seen Flyvergrillen on this blog before (here and here).
It was my first visit and the visit also gave me opportunity to have a taste of the diners rib roast sandwich and a roasted sausage with bread.

Nature in the city

Just outside the city, you step into another world. 2000 ha of dammed land. It was dammed during WW2 and used by the military up til 1984. Nowhere else in Europe you will be able to find natural areas of this size, so close to the big city, and with the metro going right to the "door".

Metro post

These large posts are towering outside every Metro station in the city - not that there are so many of them. There is only two lines and most of the stops on those two lines are the same. But at least there is a Metro, and it will be expanded over the next couple of decades.

Flyvergrillen

Flyvergrillen is a small take away right next to the runway of Kastrup Airport. It is an institution fra plane spotters... And they sell some incredibly large (and cheap) ice creams.

Grey

The University of Copenhagen, Njalsgade Campus. A rather grey and dull building.

Look!

Wonder what this little girl is looking for? Maybe she is checking whether her flight is leaving on time. We will never now, but at least we are at Copenhagen Airport (or Kastrup Airport) and the statues you see leaning towards the railing ensure that we all stay calm when messing around with the liquid rules in the security control.

Upside-down

This old boat is a part of the decoration at Islands Brygge at the Copenhagen waterfront. A massive old wooden boat has been turned upside down and may now give nice and cool shade for a picnic in the summer time.

A hot dog in the airport

Copenhagen! I have lived and visited many cities around the world. London is amazing as is New York. Melbourne - with the lovely suburb of St Kilda where you can watch the penguins - is fantastic as well. New Orleans is rough but at the same time a place where you always want to return once you have been there - especially for Mardi Gras.

But Copenhagen is still one of my absolute favourites. Therefore I feel very priveliged that I am a citizen of it. From today I will share a photo of Copenhagen every day - or at least I will do my very best.

This photo is from Kastrup Airport. I took it when I arrived the other day after having spent a year abroad. One of the first things you see when travelling to Copenhagen is Steff's Place in the baggage claiming area. Make sure you buy a hot dog there...
