Grundtvig

N.F.S. Grundtvig (1783-1872) is one of the more succesfull poets and philosophers in Danish history. His philosophy has greatly influenced the Danish culture.

This is a statue of him outside Marmorkirken (Marble Church).

Design to improve life

Right now there is an exhibition of the contributions to the INDEX Design Award at Kongens Nytorv. The concept of the competition is to create design that can improve life.

This one is a contribution to the scarce water reserves around the world. That is a growing problem in e.g. China, Singapore and Australia.

Eastern corner

Restaurant Eastern Corner is one of the best Thai restaurants in the city - no doubt. Definately worth a visit if you are in Copenhagen.

Cool bike

Someone left a quite cool bike here.

Alga

Over the summer the lakes in Copenhagen always get full of alga. Not exactly nice but probably something that is hard to avoid.

Indian summer

Right now we are enyoing the last days of the last summer month - a sort of Indian summer. People really enjoy it with a stroll around the lakes.

Young people talking

I have seen this statue hundreds of times, but never actually stopped and checked it out. I did the other day, and I learned that it is called 'Unge talende mennesker' (Young people talking). That is somehow pretty describing I think.

Asylum

'Asylum for everyone' it says on the tarmac here on Nørrebrogade. Undoubtedly a political statement triggered by the execution of the expulsion of 200+ Iraqi refugees who have been taking refugee in a local church until recently.

Final piece of wood

OK - this is the last piece of wood I will give you for now.

Yet another piece of wood

We will just take another shot from the Copenhagen International Wood Festival. This sculpture has a more organised impression than the one from yesterday. I like them both.

Wood festival #2

People have asked for a view of the finished work at the Copenhagen International Wood Festival. This is one of the sculptures. Quite impressing I think. It's a tree.

One wouldn't think that this house is sitting in the middle of the city.

Chilling out

People are chilling out on a lovely summer night. It seems that something is going on somewhere, because they are all looking in the same direction.

Today we have more focus on roofs, it seems. This time with a sunset included.

Wood festival

What would you do if you had 1 km of wood? That is what Copenhagen International Wood Festival is trying to figure out. Teams are having 5 days to build a sculpture out of thin pieces of wood.

World Trade Center

Someone has left a model of New York's World Trade Center on a piece of grass at the corner of Sølvgade and Farimagsgade. I have no idea what that is about, but I thought is was worth a photo.

Sunflowers

Someone getting sunflowers this afternoon will probably be happy.
